Junko’s BnB above her cafe, kamenos, is simply perfect. The space is very well designed with beautiful furniture and a great layout. The bedding was luxuriously comfortable and the view is a fantastic waterfront city view facing the bay and Beppu city. The unique traditional Japanese bath offered a relaxing way to start and end our days. The town of Hiji is quaint, with a decent amount of cafes, restaurants and natural destinations that Junko and her daughter were helpful to recommend a selection for us. A daytrip to neighbouring Beppu city is very easy by car. Junko and her daughter Mio speak English well and were knowledgeable about the area. They recommended us restaurants and an onsen that were great. Kamenos was very private and felt like a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of the beginning to our Japan trip.The tap water (from the mountain spring) tasted so good. The experience at Junko's place was simply great, one of the best stays of our trip to Japan, we just wished we could stay longer. She is great, full of energy and enthusiasm - she provided us with plenty of printed information on the area, which is very full of things to do and discover, and personalised tips and suggestions. She even booked two seats in the local izakaya for us one evening, which proved a delicious meal. The house is gorgeous, beautifully furnished and with a memorable view on Beppu Bay. My wife particularly enjoyed the meditation/yoga room, but we appreciated the great taste and the details all around :) Finally it was very nice to know Junko's family, who were very friendly and seemingly very happy to have us. 5 stars from us.

Junko’s villa is spacious and stylish in a lovely location with spectacular views over Beppu bay. It is ideally placed for exploring the unspoilt Kunisaki peninsula with its historic shrines. Junko san's place was incredible! So beautiful and peaceful. We were there for our babymoon, and it was perfect to relax and enjoy the beautiful design of the whole place as well as the lovely surroundings. Junko san and her family are all very friendly. They have a cafe downstairs where you can enjoy really nice pastries. Junko san was also very helpful with everything. She brought us to the supermarket as we didn't have a car, and to the station.
